Any squash or tennis players here? I was thinking about
giving them a try, but unsure if the violent side to side movements are going to effect the bag, or maybe it's not something to worry about
...?

Have played tennis, squash, golf, netball, badminton, rounders, hockey, horseriding, skiing, ice skating, rollerblading, and loads of stuff with my stoma when I used to be very active a few years ago and never had any problems with the bag. You never know until you try, give it a go.

hi, badminton is my game, especially in the dark winter evenings, 4 hours a week , otherwise cycling, kayaking, hillwalking give me the exercise buzz i love. unless you have a particular problem to prevent it, sports should be fine with the bag,
you mention tennis & squash in your post but ??? have you tried/ considered badminton - great fast game - indoors so not affected by the weather & most halls have the court markings
cheers

OK cool, maybe I'll give it a go then. I've never thought of badminton...I checked out the racquet club in the larger town near me and they have indoor squash/tennis courts...which is what got me to asking about
this. No badminton markers...I did enjoy playing that wayy back in highschool though

I know it's been awhile, but I did end up joining the racquet club in the larger town near me. Had a "cardio tennis" class today that involved A LOT of running and I'd call them violent side to side movements. I survived :) Definitely very much out of my comfort zone this morning, LOL.
I haven't done any running since college, (pre-bag days) and was exhausted afterwards. I'm curious to see if these movements are going to shorten my weartime though.

Hi I love tennis and was playing tough 2 hr games twice a week before my =ileostomy in Sept, just played frirst game today, wore a support around for protection but I didnt need it I was ok-it did give me the confidence to get out there though. I felt great after the game as it showed me that I can do everything I was doing before the op again, now how to improve my back hand is next on my list!

Yay, Matt! Way to get out there. As far as wear time, I haven't noticed a difference for distance running, even during the summer heat, but everyone gets different results from the various appliances, etc. I don't know if you've seen the Sure Seals, but I recommend them for anyone doing very active sports. It's a clear adhesive covering that goes over top of your wafer and extends onto the skin around it (there is a hole in the middle for the bag to go through). It provides some extra adhesive plus they are waterproof which is nice for keeping the wafer dry with all the extra showers that come with sweaty workouts. I've found they can really hold a leak in, too if you should lose your seal on the wafer and protect you from getting all messy until you get a chance to change.
