Does everyone who has a takedown surgery go through these tests? What happens if they reveal a leak? More surgery needed?
Thanks

Yes, everyone goes through them. Chances of a leak from the CC are probably nil. If there is a leak usually it's just a wait and see.

I completely agree with Sue on all points. Also, the surgeon will probably do a digital exam to check the join prior to surgery. They also told me they would check it digitally again in the OR, though I was asleep for that one so I have no memory of it.
The test isn't terrible, just sort of an awkward experience. As I recall, my surgeon told me if there was a leak we would wait six weeks and check again. It's pretty rare though at CC, at least that's the impression I got.

I think it is fairly rare to have a leak. I had mine at the Cleveland clinic and since I live three hours away they let me do it the day before takedown so I think they were pretty confident as well. Good luck!

the exam itself was fine for me, not at all awkward, not uncomfortable, and was over fairly quickly. I think it depends on the radiologist/technician. The guy who did my exam was extremely experienced and told me he had done something like 360 of these. He was very gentle and quick and expert about
putting the nozzle in me and kept me chatting, and letting me knoww what was happening. Before I knew it, it was over. The only thing you need to be careful of is that the stuff will start to come out almost immediately (they will give you large wipes for it before standing up), could make a mess on clothes, and may continue coming out for the rest of the day. Also, he showed me the images and said it was all water-tight and perfect, so that I wouldn't have to wait to hear the good news from the doctor.

mine showed a fistula that apparently grew from the j pouch surgery. i went in to have surgery to fix it and since have been fine.
the test was messy and very sticky. and unfortunately the contrast they use doesn't all come out right afterwards. it may continue to for a few hours which sucks.

My doctor told me that he would simply do a scope to look and see if everything was healed and then he would schedule my surgery. I guess each doctor has their own methods
