For the ladies - monthly cycle

I was so lucky to start my period the day after my initial surgery - as if there wasn't enough to deal with!  That was December 16, 2011.  I haven't had one since.  I am NOT complaining - I would have been happy to have a hysterectomy while I was knocked out to be quite honest.  Anyone else experience something similar and when did your cycle start up again?

I didn't have a period until about 2-3 months after surgery -- thought maybe surgery had induced menopause, which I'd have been fine with.... but the first one afterward was probably the worst in my life, so heavy and so many clots ..... and I still couldn't sit. After that for a few months it was eerie, I was on the dot regular, every 28 days, never been that way before..... now it's back to normal, for better or worse.

I have had no issue getting my periods, but they have been a lot heavier. The first one I got I actually got backed up and was very crampy. When he sewed me closed he sewed part of the other opening closed too (not permanently), and the blood couldn't get out unless I was standing, which I wasn't doing very much of at only 2 weeks post op.

After my first surgery I didn't have a period for about 10 weeks. I think that's normal for your body to kinda forgot those things when something traumatic like surgery happens. Since I had my last J-pouch surgery though my period has gone wacky. i used to have 3-4 day period with awful cramps for the first day. Now I spot for 3 days have 1 normal flow day, and spot for 2-3 days. and i get cramps for 3 days now. I sucks big time. i know they had to move my uterus around for the surgery, but i really don't understand why i now have a week long period when that's never happened in my life. oh and my 24 day cycle is now 20 days because of the prolonged spotting. I feel like I'm always on my freaking period!

bleh! i hate taking birth control, it makes me cranky all the time. Plus I've never had kids and i thought mirena was recommended to women who have already had children. I'm kinda still clinging to the hope that it will sort itself out by the time my next yearly exam rolls around. if not, i probably will ask what i can do.

Betsaronie, I was having the spotting thing too for maybe my first 6 months of periods, and that does seem to have slowed down.... not sure what it was about, but I also felt like my periods took forever.

Due to my age, it's hard to tell what's normal winding down, and what's from surgery, though (although, I sure don't seem to be stopping). Hope yours gets better.

Lord knows I am not complaining! I would have loved for them to have taken out all that "girlie" stuff while they were in there too!
