Well it took two hours because they had to remove a few adhesions, but I'm finally "Takendown".
Had a lot of pain to begin with but it's settling down. Very tired now though. I really hope that I'll sleep tonight.

Alright! I'm really happy for you! I didn't know they could find adhesions during takedown, but it's fantastic that they took care of them before you even knew they were there.
I got novamin for pain and I didn't need it very long.
Got my stitches out today and the scar is looking better and better each day.
Sweet dreams (climb onto the back of the warm, friendly tiger, hold on to his fur, and he will carrry you to the moon....)

Alright! Hopefully they don't keep you in the hospital for too long. My take down is in two weeks. :O

Very bad night last night. Loads of pain and dehydration. It seems when I drink I get intense pain half hour later.
Such a catch 22 cos I'm so thirsty. Walking round and sitting up has helped a bit but it's still very painful at times. I'm definitely not trying eating yet.

B'D - they did lapro on the small Intestines as a precaution. Luckily they did it because they found a whole host of adhesions. Unfortunately it means possibly a longer recover for me. My bowels are feeling very delicate.

Ric, I got fluid (water, maybe with glucose) intravenously, 2 liters a day at least (I think there were vitamins in it as well) They have to be giving you that. Also ask for ice chips to chew, and maybe some plain little sugar candies or drops, they will moisturize your mouth and you won't feel that kind of mouth thirst. You are so lucky that they foundd the adhesions and took care of them now. OK, it will be a few days longer in the hospital and you're not feeling as good as you will be feeling in a few days. It will pass, the pain as well. Are you taking Novamin? It did absolutely nothing to my head so I think it's a good pain medicine and it did work.
That's right, you won't get any food until after you have some kind of bm but for the time being, just rest and make sure you get the fluids through a tube.
I am about
to write to my stoma nurse about
this incontinence. I took 3 immodium and 10 drops of opium because I had to get through a meeting this morning, and was wearing these throw-away knickers, and it happened anyway. At least these knickers kept it a total secret and made it bearable until I could get home and into the shower again. Am sort of freaking out about
this. Yes, have started up the kegels again but am afraid I need more help than that.

I'm hoping the pain is getting a little better. I'm also feeling hungry, so I'm gonna have something for breakfast.
I've been walking a lot and that seems to help, also sitting upright rather than lying down has helped. I took your advice on the ice and had a ice lolly, it was pretty awesome!
Sorry to hear about
your leakage, I'm told it does definitely improve so stay positive.

How much pain do you have? I remember the first surgery I had, and it was a pain in the ass (well stomach) to just get out of bed.
I'm guessing it is mostly the incision were the stoma used to be that has the most pain. Is there any pain with the jpouch itself?

I'm in so much pain. It comes in waves but when it hits its pretty unbearable. Most of the painkillers don't do anything.
I'm getting really sick of this, I hope it improves soon.

Could you have gas? Gas seems to be a problem frequently by take downs but not with everyone. I was lucky with that (but not with pouch and muscle behavior). When I'm in pain it is sometimes very annoying when other people make suggestions, I just hope you are getting the right attention for it because unbearable is unbearable.
It will pass and be gone. Feel better.

Yeah it's gas pain, in very bloated and it won't go. I've tried lots of things with no luck.
Last night I threw up three times as the gas just wants out and won't go through my bottom.
They've taken me off food and drink and put me on IV fluids. I'm really hoping this does something today or it's the NG tube for me and I really don't want that.

Poor pumpkin, there wasn't supposed to be gas and throwing up. Had you eaten something? Many of us get confronted with this after take down, what a lousy time. I'm betting you will get to avoid the NG tube. Let's see how you're feeling this evening.
Sending thoughts.

Thanks, I do feel a little better this and I'm so happy some of the swelling has gone! I'm hoping tomorrow everything will wake up properly and I can begin at least liquid intake.
Being thirsty is no fun at all.

I really don't want the NG tube though. I swear it was one of the worst feelings ever when the nurse tried to put it in. She got down about
halfway to my stomach and the tube shot back out again as I vomited everywhere. It would have been funny it haven't have been so traumatic!

Was trying to rephrase last question because I know you're getting iv fluids but the browser disappeared, this is happening a lot with this website.
OH my, you are having a rough time there. Did she reattempt to get the tube down after you threw up, and do you have one now? I'm sorry these issues are coming up. Of course it is not funny, these events are exhausting you and really are traumatic. For this nurse, it is just another day. I don't know what to say that would be comforting because I did not have to have a thing put down my nose except that I really hope it is for as short a time as possible. You're only three days out of surgery so things can turn around really fast. Hang in there and let's hear how you're feeling later.

No NG tube at the moment. Just sipping water, only 30ml per hour.
I've got fluid IVs though. Hopefully and this is a big hopefully I will be able to tolerate liquids again in 24 hours. If I'm able to I'll be very happy.

What are they doing about
the gas and why are you throwing up?
I'm relieved for you that you haen't go that stupid tube.
Did anything else move?
Hang in there and be patient. Make sure you get enough sleep.

I'm feeling better today, still just on liquids but having more now and not being sick so no need for the NG tube I'm very pleased to say.
I'm hoping tomorrow I get some liquid food cos I'm beginning to get really hungry!!
