Anyone have experience with Azithromycin with an illeostomy? Did you need to drink more? What about Nausea?

One of the few beneficial effects of prednisone was several years of "no sinus problems" for me. And, now, just over one year after surgery, and 5 months after my last prednisone pill, sinus problems! I figured, w/regards to the immune system, that prednison works differently for people with UC (not Chron's..that is another story).

I took it for a killer sinus infection a month with an ileostomy with no problems.  Honestly, I didn't even think there might be problems, so it's good that there weren't!  Best of luck!

Beachgirl,

Thanks for the response....my side effects right now are indegestion and a little nausea...never had that with this medicine until after surgery....ahhh well....things will get better in a couple of days.

What beach do you call home? :-)

I'm on the east coast of florida....Playlinda (Canveral Shores) is where I go to escape the daily grind of the rat race.

Florida sounds so nice! I'm a little farther north and typically stick to Virginia Beach or the Outer Banks, although I don't discriminate! I love all beaches :) I'm glad to finally be able to relax on the beach this summer, and hoping I can get up enough confidence to wear a bikini with my new surgery scars.

Cool! You will be fine on the beach...I can barely see my little "laser like" incisions now...

One more question on the Azithromycin, did you take the pill or liquid? I am taking the pills, and wondering if they are working. The Dr. I saw understood I have an illeostomy, but I always wonder.

I'm jealous of your "laser" incisions! My surgeon cut me open! Oh well.

I took the pills too. The Dr. I saw was at an urgent care place, so not top-of-the-line, but he understood that I needed something that would break down before the colon. He said the pills would be fine since they weren't coated or anything. He did give me cough medicine in a capsule though, so you really do need to be your own advocate.
