Well, it's been a little over a year since my one and only posting in this forum, and I find myself back here seeking some good advice, counsel from you all. I was given my first ileostomy in Feb of 2004, had the reversal in July of 2004, and just 3 weeks ago had another ileostomy put into place. My Doc said I would have to hold a gun to his head for him to try to reverse this one, but I explained to him there are many men/women out there that wear green scrubs and know how to hold a knife. My question I so desperately need answered is, If there is enough intestine to create a astmosis, can you be put back together even if you have been told it is a permenent ileostomy? I still have my rectum, and 6 in of colon. The reasons for my ileostomy was not because of IBS, Crohns, or U.C., it was due to my colon just not working, multiple obstructions, wich by the way even happened while I had the first ileostomy, and most recently because I could not eat or retain any nutrition and therefore laid in a hospital monthly on TPN to stay alive. I also have a feeding tube, and this is really improving the nutrtion requirements in my life. I believe my ileostomy was given in haste, not because I couldn't live without it. My Doc was very frustrated at the fact I was knocking on deaths door monthly due to malnutrtion, and instead of just trying the feeding tube without the ileostomy, he basically killed 2 birds with one stone. Do I sound bitter? cheated? frustrated? angry? Well, I'm all those plus some!!!!!! I have only been home a few days, and have already begun my search for a new Doc to take a look at what this one did to me and tell me that it is possible to reverse this awful disgusting thing hanging from my stomach. I envy those of you that seem happy, but I don't want to be happy with this thing, I want to be happy and healthy without it! If anyone has any feed back for me, it would be welcomed. Thank-You. Tammy
