I had diverticulosis of the entire colon. Mine never perforated, just had 8 infections, ascending and descending colon, until colectomy. Your pain was by your belly button and now traveled more left? What is your doctors thoughts? Did he do a blood workup to check your WBC? 2 antibiotics...probably 1 broad spectrum and flagyl. Does he think you have a potential flu? Possibly diverticulitis?
I can completely understand the whole CT issue, I argue each and every time I'm told to get one. I way how bad the situation is, how bad is this acute phase I'm going through that would warrant yet another.
The diarrhea is probably from the antibiotics. You can take a probiotic for that to feel better, also eat more yogurt.
You've been on antibiotics for 2 days. If your script
is for 5 days, try to stick it out. If this pain gets ANY worse than it already is....sorry but you have to call your surgeon and admit yourself and get a CT. Your xray had good gas flow, that's good, but still doesn't show what a CT would. Also could be an adhesion that is pulling your intestine, thus this sporadic pain and if you push it hard...it's still there and doesn't go. Adhesions don't show up on CT's, but the damage it would cause would.
Be watchful because this is your second episode.
