Takedown in 4 hours

My husband is snoring so loudly I cannot sleep. I have a great fear of incontinence after this surgery so I was probably not sleeping soundly anyway. The admissions nurse keeps reminding me that this is a process of recovery. She also said my surgeon was extremely optimistic about my recovery rate. Her guesstimate was that I would need at least six weeks before I felt somewhat normal. She was the nurse that saved my life when my colon fell apart and my heart stopped. She went behind my gi's back to call a surgeon. The Gi eventually called him but not fast enough. Luckily the hospital agreed with her and promoted her instead of punishing her.

Just three months away from take-down and I can only say that however it will be for you the first week, it will improve the 2nd week, and then the 3rd, etc. There may be incontinence in the beginning but nothing permanent. It's been a year since your collectomy so like me, it could be that the muscles forgot how to coordinate but this is totally correctable. They do not do take-downs unless the muscles are capable of working. Then again, you may not have any problem at all, so don't think of me as an example. The most important thing is that you are at the end of this long process of surgeries and everything from this point will get better. Also important - give your body time to adapt and be prepared to forgive it for not being perfect all at once - it has been through quite a lot. Enough for now. Looking forward to your first post. Take advantage of the time in hospital to expect nothing more of yourself than to rest.

Glad the pain is not too bad. Hope they can get the nausea under control. I just got done with a stoma revision and adhesion lysis. Wishing you well. Rosemary

I am having my takedown in September we hope. Been since October 2011 when I had surgery. Anxious and don't know what to expect, your posts and support to the forum have really help me get over the anxiety.

I call on you right now in a special way. It is through your power that I was created. Every breath I take, every morning I wake, and every moment of every hour, I live under your power.
Father, I ask you now to touch me with that same power. For if you created me from nothing, you can certainly recreate me. Fill me with the healing power of your spirit. Cast out anything that should not be in me. Mend what is broken. Root out any unproductive cells. open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection.
Let the warmth of your healing love pass through my body to make new any unhealthy areas so that my body will function the way you created it to function.
And Father, restore me to full health in mind and body so that I may serve you the rest of my life.
