I was another who was fortunate to be able to research and make an informed decision over the choice of dangerous drugs or a permanent ileostomy. I choose surgery for several good reasons, and have never once looked back.
The folks here helped me tremendously. I began coming here a few months prior to my surgery and when the time came, I honestly knew more than the medical professionals. I learned everything from ''soup to nuts.'' In the life of an ostomate, it is more like ''tic-tacs to mousse caps'' and much, much more.
''Surviving to Living'' accurately describes my life, too. My last few months of my life with my colon were pretty miserable. Like many, the numerous bathroom runs and losing out on family time due to the urgency. I was also ''blessed'' with incontinence.
July 14 was my 1st year anniversary/birthday, whichever you want to call it. I re-claimed my life and couldn't be happier about my decision. You will soon be feeling the same, I am certain.
You will be in my prayers and I look forward to your first post on the ''living'' side
