Sleeping on your stomach?

This may seem like an incredibly strange concern in the grander scheme of things, but is it possible to sleep on your stomach with an ostomy?

Yes, I did. Not right after surgery, but after some weeks I could. What wou have to look out for is not to lie directly on the stoma, but off to the side a bit is fine. So,eti,es I tipped my body sideways with a pillow under my ribs on the stoma side.

I slept on my back the whole time I had my ileo. I could never get comfortable. Plus I had a loop ileo the entire 3 months and my bag would fill up really fast. I was always afraid it would burst.

Good Morning All,

I miss sleeping on my stomach so much but I really can't either. I can sleep to the side of the stoma with a soft pillow tucked under my rib stomach area to protect my stoma. Last night I made a big booboo, I had leg cramps and heated up one of those heating pads in the microwave and took it back to bed with me. Well some how it ended up near my stomach area/stoma and melted my wafter right on to my stoma and my pouch bursted. What fun I'm having this morning! Wee the joys of pouch life!!!

I  have an ileostomy and sleep on my stomache all the time. Couldn't do it right after surgery though, that's for sure.
