My surgeon explained there was almost nothing I could have done to prevent it. It was from the catheter inserted after the surgery. So if you need the surgery you may get it. After the cathether is removed you can expect pain for 24 hours or so but if you don't notice improvement after that insist on a UTI test. I had it out on Thurs and was crying in pain on Sun, it advances very rapidly. This is not something that should deter anyone from opting for the surgery, but just something to know about
. If you begin treating it on day 3/4 by catching early you'll be fine.
