I didn't like the plastic on the Coloplast 1 piece either, I like the marlen and nuhope 1 piece much better. I just wish they came in a moldable instead of cut to fit.

Funny - the Hollister New Image started out fine then problems with the outer adhesive...tried their other New Image type flange but didn't hold well with or without eakin seals. Then the Convatech moldable ones...started out fine and then the same problem. He used each of those for about 3 months each and the dermatologist said he definitely needed something different or the skin problems would remain.

The Coloplast Sensura one piece (tried the 2 piece) slight convexity with no additional seal is the one his skin likes. I thought it would be too rigid when we first tried it but maybe for my husband's size and build it works fine.

He changes on Wed and Sunday and when he removes that wafer it is perfectly clear underneath and no signs of breaking down. He only uses the Smith and Nephew skin prep spray in a pump and leaves it just a tiny bit tacky and applies the one piece wafer.

He does and always has used the 1" belt for the extra support. He has the nu hope support/hernia belts (no hernia) that he uses if doing "light" strenuous stuff around the house and for golfing.

I'm all about the coloplast sensura 2piece. It is almost bombproof. Heavy exercise, lots of sweating. It just holds up. Plus the midi size bags are just perfect for a petite person with an ileostomy. No one else seems to make midi size bags.

Hollister always blows out when I wait to long to empty. Convatec anything eats my skin apart. So with the sensura 2 piece.. you can see it easy to apply it, the lovely clicking sound is so reassuring, and it surely doesn't snap off on its own, or the bottom of the bag leak out - like the hollisters.

For extra security I either use sureseals or coloplast brava elastic semicirle strip things on the outer edges. Then I can do ANYTHING I did pre-ileostomy.

So far I've had good luck with the Convatec convex with moldable wafer. I also use a sure seal on top of the wafer. No skin issues and I can usually go 5 to 6 days in between changes. I just received samples of the Coloplast 2 piece Click, but I haven't tried them yet - I want to wait until I'm going to be staying close to home, just in case. The wafer for the Coloplast seems thick and rigid compared to the Convatech wafer.

Thanks to all who have replied! I guess my body just doesn't fit with the hard plastic on the Coloplast edge. The center part of the wafer fits well, just that edge close to my belly button. Both the one piece and two piece seem to be the same. I suppose I could use paste or a sure seal, but it's just so easy to slap on that 1 piece Hollister and go!

I ditto this.

daffoil - depending which coloplast you are using.. the sensura wafers are oval. You can turn them so the larger part of the oval is up and down - that way it may stay away from your belly button. I turned mine that way for awhile after my last big slicing abdominal surgery. Had to keep the wafer away from the scar while it was healing. The coloplast assuras are round. I think they are smaller in diameter than the largest part of the sensura. They are the older version of sensura - but function the same way with the 2piece click and the nice wide opening secure velcro closure.
