Symptoms very ill

Since last monday my ears have hurt and popped constantly. Wed I got diagnosis with an ear infection and thursday that diagnosis was reversed. I am in pain in my stomach, neck, knees, back, ab area. I have a runny nose and chills followed by burning up -- this goes on all day. I am nauseas constantly and can barely eat. Yesterday I was in the hospital and they started me on Flagyl and Cipro without a diagnosis. Catscan showed nothing.

Have you recently been on prednisone in the last few weeks? Did you stop your taper too early or adjust it in any way? I just ha the biggest mystery diagnosis iv ever had the other day. I hit a wall in recovery and was feeling AwFUL! Many of your symptoms and everything Came back normal but i adjusted my taper so i could stop early and ended up in adrenal crisis where my body wasnt making cortisol at all. I have never felt that bad in my life all because of prednisone stopping early. Just wonderin if you been on it lately.

I too had a mysterious ill feeling about a month after my surgery. I had some stomach pains, chills, a low grade fever, nausea and absolutely no appetite. My CT scan revealed a pocket of fluid in my abdominal cavity, so they drained it and admitted me to the hospital for a few days for observation. The pocket of fluid ended up being harmless and not infected and the doctors did not think it was related to my symptoms. They never did figure out what was making me feel sick, but I improved in about a week and my appetite slowly returned. I too wondered if it had to do with my Prednisone taper. I was going from 5 mg down to 0 mg at that time though I was not found to have adrenal crisis or anything that severe.

I agree with Subzeromambo- Zofran worked wonders for me when I was nauseated at various times after surgery.

I also had an anti nausea drug called tigan that helped. I was very nauseous just on flagyl (which I called "flaggelate") and I didn't tolerate dilaudid at all.

Zofran was good too.

hang in there. I wouldn't worry too much about eating since you are in the hospital. I mean really.. who likes hospital food? Seriously though, all the drugs you are on - antibiotics and pain stuff - can definitely mess with your appetite. Also if you do have an infection... that can mess with your appetite also. I suspect that the docs are watching your nutrition levels and if things get off they can deal with it in the hospital. If they need to do TPN they will do it. Just rest, watch boring TV, listen to music, and try to relax and get well.
