Where did I said someone made a wrong choice? I was simply arguing both procedures. I am not angry.

Somedude---All through the thread, your common theme has been:
-"why would you not consider a j pouch if you're a candidate?" and
-"Why would someone live with a bag if other options are available is beyond me." and
-"being healthy with j pouch beats being healthy with a bag" and
-"I guess, my view on it, I am looking for the closest to normal as possible pre-uc be it with drugs/diet or surgery. Right now closest is a j pouch (if diets/meds don't work), really, for obvious reasons."

You are obviously trying to convince someone that a J-Pouch is the only way to go, if possible, and if they don't choose that option, they made the wrong choice. And then you said you that "Just because someone made a choice (j pouch or bag), doesn't mean their choice can't be argued." I just get the feeling that you want to argue with those who made the choice to have a permanent ileo when you think they should have tried a J-Pouch first.

You said that someday you may have to consider surgery. I think it is fine for you to use this forum to make an informed decision, but not to argue with those who have already had surgery, about the choices they made. Every person chooses based on their experience...and yours is different than anyone else's on this forum.

Valid question. Why would they develop a procedure and then people not take it. In any case, people answered why.

This is a subjective comment. It refers to the fact that if the option of J pouch is available, one can have the option to have it and then reverse it if it doesn't work out.

This is again a subjective comment. It stems from the fact that having a bag is an extra accessory and not mimicing completely what is normal pre-uc, pre-problems. I mentioned that the J-pouch is the one mimicing the closest the appearence of normal pre-uc. This is, obviously, why the procedure exists.

Dude, I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. You know why? Cause I don't care. I mearly argue both type of surgeries because someday, I might be in that situation Second, a choice can be argued all day long in any aspect.

This is the only correct assessment you made of me so far. But I want to change the word "SHOULD" to "COULD"

Somedude---well thank goodness then, that it is not up to you to make decisions for the rest of us! It is none of your business to try to tell us what we "COULD" have done. It was our choice, not yours. It doesn't sound to me like you are the least bit objective...you already have your mind made up. Hopefully you will never have to face having surgery, because I am pretty sure that all your preconceived ideas will go out the window (even if you get your J-Pouch).

I posted this to find out who out there was happy with their ileostomy. And it sounds to me, like there are plenty of people who are wonderfully happy with their decision to stick with an ileostomy. And that makes me happy!!!

Just kidding, I'm not big into being a browser snob. I've stuck with Firefox through thick and thin, despite the Chrome lot getting sniffy over it ("I'm sooooo over Firefox and its 0.000016 seconds longer loading time than Chrome's!")

Re j-pouch vs ileostomy: I only would prefer a j-pouch for vanity reasons, no other. But if this rock-climber felt that an ileostomy suited her needs better, who am I to argue with her? I may try rock-climbing one day, I am serious, so that is heartening to me. It makes me feel like having a bag doesn't condemn me to a remaining lifetime of semi-invalidity, which is almost what I feel I have now.

And this is how the woman's surgeon responded:

After explaining all the details of the two surgical options and hearing my wishes, my surgeon never made me feel bad about my decision to go right for an ileostomy and not try a j-pouch. He never made the permanent ileostomy sound like the lesser of the two surgery types, and I was so grateful for that. I left the meeting feeling supported, and knew I was making the right choice for me.

All I know is, if a colorectal surgeon can't get to the bottom of it, nobody can.

-I guess, I should tell everyone daily when my choice are questioned to mind their business right? lol

You probably haven't frequented the UC part of this forum. If you chose surgery, you are told to try diets first. Anything you choose to do, you will be presented with what they think you could do. There is nothing wrong with this.

I am glad your happy. It's important to know this, it is one of the options.

I use firefox and only firefox. I'm at work....IE8 behaves weirdly. You can't write outside the qoute when you qoute. It's not IE8 fault. This is an old engine for a forum.

Can't you type in the quote tags manually, you know, square bracket, quote, equal sign, quotation mark, username, etc. etc.?

And just as not everybody wants to try every half-baked "natural" option in existence before opting for surgery, so not everybody wants to have a j-pouch before an ileostomy. It's not really rocket science or, indeed, colorectal surgery. It's pointless keeping on banging on about it.

Allbetternow, you nailed perfectly every thought I have had about the "highjacking" of your post  :-)  

I still think those looking for advice/guidance within a post that is titled, "Is anyone happy with their choice?",  will still benefit from the experience of those who have actually made a choice and are happy with that choice.

The rest will be clearly taken as an "opinion" from someone who has never "been there, done that" and apparently has to have the "last word."

I just had mine reversed last Thursday and already miss it. I only had a few problems with it but I would rate it at a 80% improvement? I may have to have it again. I'll find out tomorrow but now I know what to expect and how good that I will feel!!!
