Hi all, this is the first time posting for me. I've been following this site since my total colectomy in January. I've had UC for 15 yrs and like a lot of others here have been through the list of meds until nothing worked anymore. Since my ileostomy surgery I've been doing great tho:) but now it's time for the completion of this job and I need the APR done. After my initial surgery, the dr had to leave the top part of my colon
open by the ileostomy instead of leaving it inside because it was so badly diseased. I still have a small
opening that drains mucousy colitis stuff, which is the reason I'm having the APR surgery done to remove the rest of the diseased colon and rectum. The dr said for this surgery I will have to be
opened up again because of all the adhesions she found during my original colectomy which was also done
open after the dr tried to do it laparoscopic but couldn't because of the adhesions. So I'm just looking for your advice on what to expect and some helpful healing advice for this surgery which is scheduled for September 14. This forum has been full of great advice and help for me and I appreciate any suggestions you have. Thanks!
