rosemary-seems to me that what you are describing is pretty normal, especially right after surgery. I have had 4 stomas built, and everything is generally whacko and unpredictable for several months after each surgery. If there is somehow that you can get your mind off the stoma.. I think it might help you recover. Just make sure you are staying hydrated, drink an electroylete beverage - but not a surgary sports drink like gatoradie, stick to soft GI foods, and eat when you are hungry. You are in a seemingly very normal recovery stage... so try to get out, get active, and do some things to get your mind into a more positive light. I know you have been through a lot,... but I think if you can get your mind off of it all.. it will assist in your overall recovery.
best wishes.
