I just grossed myself out...

I was changing my ostomy set yesterday. I was doing a really quick change (the convex part of my system kept popping out, becoming concave!). I didn't have my usual safeguards set up.

Of course my stoma started producing! Without thinking I put my hand under my stoma and caught the poop. Ewwww!! Quite a bit came out and fortunately it was pretty solid. It dumped nicely into the toilet. I've accidentally gotten stuff on me while changing the bag/ cleaning the tail/ pooping myself pre-surgery but this is the fist time I've put myself in poops way.

I've never had kids so maybe my squeemish threshold is a bit low yet :P

Happens to me all the time.  But, I would much rather have this in my hand than what I routinely had all over me prior to my surgery.   Now, that was some nasty, nasty stuff.   And, I do have kids and now grandkids but my nasty stuff was much worse than anything my kids or grandkids ever "handed" to me    

It will probably become less and less of an issue for you as time goes on.   Hope so

Hahaha! I love Dan's reply. I have done this before but always with a bundle of paper towel or TP; never with a bare hand, LOL.

I was really bad at changing my bag when i first started, so i don't even get grossed out anymore now ><
haha i have a "get the job done" mode and i turn into an intense warrior whose only mission is to get my bag changed...

and then afterwards i get squeemish and take a really really hot shower xD
