tail problems

So I've used Hollister, Convatec, and now Marlen (gentle on my pyoderma). For some reason I'm having trouble with the Marlen leaking.

Each of these have had their own type of "tail" with a similar clasping system. Hollister and Convatec are pretty similar...you fold the tail up a couple of times and velcro across. The Marlen has a system where you fold the tail up, but it has two tabs - one on either side - that you use to velcro. The tabs don't meet in the middle...rather there's about an inch of fuzzy that's not covered. That part of the fuzzy you can actually fold up and velcor to the middle of your bag. That's how I wear my bag 80% of the time.

However, sometimes when I go to the bathroom I notice that there's been liquid leakage on the tail. I'll unfold it an there's definitely moisture colored the same as my output. A few droplets and some dampness. I'm obviously not thrilled by the fact that it's leaking like this. But I haven't been able to figure out why. Does anybody have any thoughts? The only thing I can think of is that if I pull the side velcro's too tight, that maybe it's creating a bend at the opening allowing liquid to leak out?

I use the Marlen 1 piece mini max, and the velcro closure seems to only be good for 2 days or so, I haven't had one come loose yet, but they devinitly don't seal well after that. I have bought the pkg of velcro dots at Walmart, a jillion or so in a pkg for a couple of bucks and added them to the tail when needed. I like the marlens because the flange is the softest I've found, but it is irritating. The convatec rep told me that the mio line will soon be available in an open end pouch, I hope it is as good as advertised for comfort.

try coloplast sensura. way better tail velcro closing than many of the others. I don't know about marlen, but with hollister and convatec, I had the exact same problem you describe.
