I did not see an explanation from the person that emptied sitting sideways with pants up and knees together. Did I miss the response? I don't remember the thread or the person's ID.

Just trying to imagine how that would work makes my head hurt... personally I just kneel on one knee facing the toilet and empty that way... not sure if that's what everyone else does but it works for me. Trying anything more complicated just sounds like a good way to fill up your washing machine more quickly!

I think the most popular way is sitting way back on the toilet, with legs apart.

I haven't been on for a while, sorry, I never saw the replies after my comment, anyways, I just sit sideways on the toilet, and I pull my pants down, it's the easiest way for me.

Could someone bump that thread so I can see the replies?

I think she means inside of sitting with her back at the tank, her side is to the tank. If that is what she means I can see how it would give her more room cause the seat is longer than it is wide.

This is harder to explain than I thought it would be, like imagine a public bathroom, instead of my knees facing the door when I sit, they face the side. Does that make sense? If not you can email me at [email protected]

I didn't mean taking the pic while I was emptying it lol, I just meant a pic showing how I sit sideways. You're silly!

My stoma is on the left side.

I'm glad that I could make you laugh, laughing is a great thing, unless you can't breathe, that's not a good thing lol

If anyone had walked in on me in the bathroom today they would have thought i was crazy. I was sitting there trying all kinds of positions attempting to figure out what she is doing! Maybe it's the best way ever! However i can't figure a single thing out! The closest i came was kind of leaning way over, but my bag would have had to point to the outside of my body for that to have worked.

I feel bad that I haven't been able to take that picture, I haven't been feeling well lately, but when I do feel better I will take that picture.

I hope I'm not insane, lol!

Okay, people, I have seen the photos, and here is the verdict...

She sits with her left side towards the tank. Her stoma is situated so far to the left of her abdomen that the bag actually reaches over the outside of her left thigh to empty into the toilet bowl in the space between her leg and the toilet tank. The reason this works is because of her stoma placement.

Of course I had to go try it right away to see if it would work for me, but alas - my stoma is located so low on my belly and towards the center that it is not even close to reaching... I would get output all over my leg, LOL.

So I guess for her it's genius, but for me it would be insane. :-)

Mine is belly button level on my left side, about three inches from my belly button. Bag wouldn't stretch that far but I am so glad you found something that works for you!!!

I helped to place my own stoma, actually. When I went in for the marking, I asked for as low as it would go and still be functional so that after all is said and done the scar would be easily hide-able under pants, undies, and bikini bottoms. Plus, I didn't want it too close to my navel because I want my belly button to be the main attraction of my abdomen so to speak. :-P It's all just vain aesthetics, but I'm happy with it! I heard from another stoma nurse that my WOC nurse is bolder with stoma placements than most - as soon as she saw mine she guessed who it was that marked the placement, LOL - it is lower than anyone else's I've seen. It means even most of my bag is hidden under my pants.

(That was at my first bag change when it was still pretty swollen. It's a lot smaller now, at 7/8".)
