i was wondering if anyone is like me and suffers from serious i.b.s. but also has an ostomy?

Hmm....no...isn't IBS irritable bowel? Do you mean you have constant diarrhea in your bag? Did you have Crohn's or UC?

My GI has explained to me that you can have IBS episodes with IBD. When trying to explain why I have these mini "flares" around my monthly cycle he shared research that suggested that these episodes are not in fact flares of IBD since they would dissipate after my cycle. A true IBD flare would only respond to medication, etc. and I treated these instances with nothing. At least as it was explained to me - made sense and as a matter of fact I am in the middle of one of them NOW and even my husband said "are you getting ready to start your period!?" b/c I have been complaining of all the normal stuff....hadn't even dawned on me until he said it but YEP, I sure am.

I think they call this IPS after the colon is removed. You can treat it with bentyl or donnatel.
