taking advise from the group

I ordered some samples of convex bags samples online tonight. I ordered some hollister ones because they had the only online request form I could find at 2:30am. What other brand would you suggest? My stoma is shaped funny so one I can cut myself would probably be best.
I'm hoping this group is right and my ostomy nurse is wrong and they will be the answer to my prayers even tho my tummy is "too firm" for them.
I just hope I can get the opening close enough to the stoma to really help.
I've really investigated my stoma to see if I could see what is really happening.
From what I can tell, the opening of the stoma being on the side had part of the stoma opening actually being the part of the stoma that the skin healed to. So I can't really use a turlenecking wafer or product.

I did use a little bitty layer of the butt paste/diaper rash paste my friend told me about under some stoma paste on the screaming skin. It worked on the pain level for 2 days. Now I need the stoma to stop again so I can take the bag off and reapply on the little bit of skin the wafer didn't cover. (I'm using a two piece right now) I tried earlier and as soon as I got the butt paste on, SHE became active again so I have to try again later. In the mean time, I will have to hurt I guess.

Any suggestions on those bags for me to request would be appreciated.

I use coloplast sensura convex one piece. You need to get the smallest convex you can to fit your stoma. I cut my own bags as my stoma changes shape and size a lot and is also a weird shape. That's fine it suits me better.

My stoma is around 30-32mm (oval shaped) and I use a convex wafer with a size that goes up to 15-33mm. You need the convex 'ring' to be as close to the stoma as you can get it so it applies the pressure in the right place. I was using a hole that went up to 43mm and I got leaks.. it was too big and the hard 'ring' was too far away from the edge of the stoma to have the intended effect of convex. I couldn't believe it would make a difference but it did.

I had to figure that out for myself as my stoma nurse didn't think of it. I can't see any reason why you shouldn't try convex wafers. Soft convex wont' do you any harm at all.

My new stoma nurse said that most people who are active or doing sport need convex regardless of how firm or soft their stomach might be.

Anyway.. I use stomahesive powder on sore skin - and a skinsafe wipe and that's it. I don't seem to need rings or seals and find they complicate things. I try to change every day as I like a clean bag and my output is very watery so I get sore skin more easily.

I use a convex convatec Moldable wafer. What I do is not the norm, but it works for me. I apply a Hollister adapt barrier ring, shaped Into a very thin ring. I only use 1/4 of the ring at a time. I then stretch the Moldable part of the wafer a little bit, but I do not roll it back at all. I then just pull the wafer over my stoma. I do it this way because my stoma changes shape often and the Moldable wafers stretches with it without strangling it since the wafer is so soft and pliable. I hope this makes sense. My skin looks wonderful other than some slight bruising coloring, but I have read this can be a normal affect from the convex wafer. It is not painful.

If you are trying a convex pouch try and get a belt (strip of elastic with belts). The belt helps to further push out the stoma. The Hollister belts fit both Convetec and Hollister. They don't look like they fit the Convetec but with some finagling they do.
