How long have you had your ostomy?

I was just curious as to how long you all have had your ostomy, I got mine when I was 18, so I've had mine for about 13 years!

December 15, 2012 at age 32 temporary now but I think I am going to ask that it is permanent

first one july 2008 and various ileostomies until present with exception of 7 months of torture in 2010 with a connected jpouch
but now ileostomy #4 is a permanent end ileostomy

three and a half years for me.

2000 had emergency ileo for 3 months
2001 requested ileo (after 2 months) and went with temp/loop ileo (conservative choice since I have Crohn's)
2008 decided to go with permanent ileo and had proctocolectomy with end/loop

I guess that makes it 13 years in 2013!

October, 2006. I was 66 years old. Best thing I've ever done for myself.

i myself have had mine for 39.5 years i got mine at six months old... mine has been a rollercoaster through the years but all in all it saved my life..... i had both a colostomy and an illyostomy as well, tho when i was 17 years old i almost died from an infection and they removed the illyostomy and replaced it with what they called an artificial blader made of stomach and bowel which i cath through a stoma on my abdomen...

July 26, 2010 Colectomy with IRA Anastomosis
August 3, 2010 Ileostomy

Was 37 years old.

Like colitiscansuck....thinking of making it permanent.

Permanent ileostomy on January 24, 2012 at 54 years old. Colon cancer and UC. Second surgery December 7th 2012. All is looking well as far as the doctors can see. Currently doing radiation.

Proctocolectomy with end ileostomy and anal closure on Nov. 6, 2012 at age 60.

Gracie the stoma will be 3 months old day after tomorrow.

Life is good.....really good.

For three weeks as of today. It's the best I've felt in the last 2.5 years since I was diagnosed with UC.

I haven't been on for about 8 years, busy with brain cancer etc. but have had ostomy since 1980 due to UC, never looked back, no complaints.

I got mine on June 25th, 2012. It'll be eight months old in two days! xD
Oh, and I'm nineteen.

I had mine since Aug. 9th 2009 at the age of 54. Happy to have a good life to live.
