What do you think is better: 1 or 2-piece bags?

Sure seals are also called flange extenders. I've only tried Wellands Hydroframe a couple of times. I used pelican select convex one piece bags with either a salts slim or Eakins cohesive slim underneath.

I have never used a one piece. I like to see my stoma and make sure that the flange is nice and secure. I change every four days because I like to make sure the skin is ok and I love that shower day!!! I use the Coloplast Sensura line and I love it.

I don't use any paste or powder stuff and have gone 6 days but I like the clean feeling of a change!

I started with a two piece and then quickly changed to a one piece, partly because I had an accident burping the 2 piece early on and I liked the lower profile. But after two plus years, I will probably change to a two piece. I'm finding that my wafer doesn't last long enough, as I've been swimming a lot etc, I'm only getting two days before I start getting irritation. I realized that the issue is that I need an extended wear wafer. After trying a bunch of things, I want to stick with essentially what I am using -- coloplast, but the xpro, not the sensura. However, they only make that in clear w/the one piece, and having an opaque bag is more important to me than having a one piece....

I did go to the ER with one blockage, and it was a real pain to have a one piece as I had to change it three times or so to keep showing docs my stoma (the blockage had cleared, but I was there because my stoma had been purple, and they wanted to watch it for a while). Would have been way easier w/a two piece.....

Thanks again, folks. An update: I saw the stoma nurse yesterday and asked her about 2-piece bags. She seemed a bit surprised by that and asked why I wanted one, thus reinforcing my opinion that 2-pieces are not that common over here. But she said she would get some Dansac 2-piece samples for me and recommended I get the Coloplast samples from their website. Haven't done that yet - so lazy :/ - but I will. If not tonight, then tomorrow. (And the Salts stuff, too, plus one or two other brands - it seems worth trying several brands.)

Oh yeah. The nurse also told me to go for 'flat' and 'drainable'. She said I wouldn't need a convex bag (those are for flush or retracted stomas, am I right?) I'm almost looking forward to trying a 2-piece. They sound better.

I have used a one piece the entire 14 months of my ileostomy. I tried the Convected 2 piece moldable but it only lasted one day. It turned to paste. I was afraid it would leak. The Hollister I've been using is good for about two days then I get small leaks, but no skin damage so far. I could go on like that indefinably. But I've been thinking about trying their two piece. Their adhesive seems to be easy on my skin. So I would stick with them for now. I was planning to get the two piece Saturday and give it a go.

Having used one piece with my loop ileo I thought I would try two piece with my end ileo. Really not a big difference for me. In theory I liked the idea of different size and types of pouches I could use without changing the wafer but in reality I didnt do much with them and I did have a failure or two with the connection between the wafer and the pouch both were "operator error" and were caught early without big problem but it just seemed like one more leak point that didnt serve any useful purpose, for me. So I went back to the one piece and its simplicity. I use Coloplast Sensura with light convexity. Change every 3 or 4 days. I do use the half round Brava flange seals and they work great to secure the pouching system giving me a feeling of security when I am am active.
