An odd request, I know. But - my last visit with the surgeon I had made soem improvement and due to that - he decided to not discuss details or schedule surgeyr, but to instead wait it out. He told me if things went downhill to call him. I did - on Tuesday & he wanted me in his office for Thursday (tomorrow) morning to have the final discussion, etc.
At my last appointment I told him that it was upsetting to me not to schedule & I'd rather have surgery while not in a huge flare. His response contained the point that "he knows how things can go after surgery" & he'd like to give the newest rheumatologist & GI plan a try.
After making the appointment for Thursday I got a call from my GI. He now has another new plan that involves switching me to Remicade & possibly Imuran, etc. Also doing a complete colonoscopy rather than the originally intended sigmoid because he wants to see if it is still just lower left & rectum involved. He & the surgeon are'nt sure they want to go with surgery for such a short section that is severe, steroid dependent and rather unresponsive to medications thus far.
What am I missing here? I do not want a pouch, just an end ileostomy. I don't understand why my GI sent to the surgeon in the first place if he had more plans for medication cocktails... GRrrrrrr
Thanks in advance - hoping to better understand this yo-yo treatment I'm getting.
