Hi guys and gals, 33 year old male, ileostomy since 2000, unreversable. Winnipeg Canada. wondering if there are any other Canadians or even Winnipegers here. Also wondering if anyone is coming to the UOAC Conference here in River City August 18-20

hi :) im mya and im in mississippi, well i was dx'd with crohns in feb 05 and have had a colostamie bag sense then also im 43 yrs old an im not liking this bag:( but it saved my live an know im just waiting to br well eough for an removealof the bag.. so when was your dx'd and what is your illness??and how long ahve you had the ileoostomy??

Hey Travlinjack....

I'm Canadian!! From Ontario actually.

I am scheduled for surgery (ileostomy) on August 19th and I figured I would log in here to see exactly what people's experiences have been with their ostomies. You feel up to sharing? Or anyone else for that matter....really quite upset about the situation.

Any info would be greatly appreciated....and ladies, could you tell me if your clothing had to change a great deal after having your ostomy?

I have a temporary illeostmy and I am 21 so my clothing had to change alot!!!!! I have to wear loose fitting clothes that are longer than where my pants sit.. It's really frusterating for me being young, how old are you? My experiance so far hasn't been the greatest because my stoma is really flat and flush, so I get TONS of leaks... If you have any questions PLEASE ASK!!!!!

I am 27 years old, and although I am not as young as you, I too like to wear my clothes a little more slim fitting as I have a petite frame (having no colon does that to you huh). I am also worried that my work attire will have to change quite a bit... have you found anything that works particularily well for you? I am going to go shopping soon so that I have a few outfits to wear when I get home from surgery, so I can "feel" more normal....any suggestions?

Do you have Crohn's? Is that why you have an ostomy?

Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with your stoma....maybe things will get better?
