My search for the perfect system continues....HA!! I did go ahead and order some stuff from Convatec, just to have a bit of a supply, but I'm not totally in love with them. I've tried quite a few pouches/systems so far and there are things I love and hate about all of them...and have had a lot of trouble deciding what to go with in the long run. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever settle on just one system....my skin seems to be happier when I change it up from time to time.

So...the most recent sample I received was from Cymed. Have any of you heard of this or tried their products? Last night I put on one of their 2 piece systems and it is SO light weight and comfortable!! I'm not sure I got it on quite right, there will be a bit of a learning curve, and I don't know if I trust a 2 piece system that is based on adhesive instead of tupperware rings, but I REALLY want this to work for me. Next I will try a one piece of theirs to see how they work. I would describe some features, but don't think I'd do a very good job....but feel free to ask me about them, or look them up. And if anyone has tried them, please let me know what you think.

Okay here's my question: what is the POINT of an adhesive based two piece system? What do you get out of it that makes it better than a one piece? All of the benefits I see from my two-piece are because I can snap the bag on and off at will... So what's the deal? wink

I love being able to take the bag off, look at my stoma and clean things up a bit once a day or so...I also like being able to burp my bag easily by just lifting it off the ring. For me, the appeal of the adhesive system is how very low profile it is....especially these Cymed ones. The material around the washer is as thin as saran wrap and totally conforms to the skin....it's great!

Every 2 piece adhesive based system I have seen CLAIMS that you can peel the bag off and put it back on again. I tried the Coloplast system more than once and this did not work for me. Once I peeled the bag off, it never stuck right again. I haven't tried taking the Cymed bag off and on yet, but if it doesn't stick properly after that, there is no point in a 2 piece adhesive system. Since the only 2 piece system that Cymed has is adhesive based, I figured I would give it a shot. I will also try their one piece just because I would like to have a supply of both types, for different situations....and like I said, will probably end up using bags from 2 or more different companies in the long run! :P

Side note....I recently noticed there is a HUGE difference in price for all of these products depending on which company you order from. SO much to think about...UGH!

Got it, this was the disconnect for me -- I assumed once you stick the adhesive pouch you can't remove and restick it. I too love to burp the bag and peek at my stoma so I stick to my 2-piece mechanical system. I personally can't imagine an adhesive based two piece ever re-attaching properly, so I'll be pleasantly surprised to hear how CyMed fares!

I tried the Cymed and loved how it felt. Sadly, I had one of my worst leaks with it :( I just seem to need more support I guess.

PUSDOC~ I really love the way they feel too!! Did you try the one or 2 piece?? I'm noticing that the bag seems to be peeling away from the wafer already, but being this is my first time using the system, I'm willing to chalk it up to operator error. I'm going to stick a new bag onto the same wafer and see what happens. I sent an email to Cymed mentioning that this happened, and another possible issue I noticed. They got back to me VERY quickly and tried to call. The email was apologetic for any possible issues/faulty samples and said she will call me again tomorrow to ask a few questions...maybe I'll get a couple more samples too :) Even if the 2 piece doesn't work out, I'm going to try the one piece too. I would just like to have the option of having a very low profile bag at times. My stoma is so long though, it's likely I won't ever be able to find a system that is "invisible", but that's OK.

I tried the one piece - I so wish it had worked for me, cause it was BY FAR the most comfortable system I have tried. I actually had issues with the output pushing out from inside, but they stuck well on the outside (at least until they got breached).

Thanks for test driving- I'll be keen to hear longer term feedback. My big fear of an adhesive 2-piece is how would one burp it? One would have to install that third party burping valve that connects to any bag (I firget the name)- but it would be an option. Sometimes I am tempted to remove my bag and scoop out all the stool that pancakes and seems to "live" around the stoma, but I'm afraid my stoma will suddenly wake up and I like to save that excitement for wafer change days.

Pro, I found that I can "burp" the bag without the Osto-EZ-Vents (and prefer it this way because it's less work not having to put them on). I simply unclip the tupperware ring on the bag in a small little part at the top of the bag (leaving the rest of it connected), let the air out, and then reconnect. I have had a few problems basically trying to do it in the dark at night half laying down because I was lazy with some stool still being at the top of the bag and coming out, but that's simply because I was lazy, not anything else. Many people on here have said never to try it laying down. They are right. Haha.

I thought the cymed was very comfortable too (it's like the sure seal and the bag without the wafer), but it didn't work for me. I was having problems with output getting under the ring (eakin or adapt with other products, the built in one with cymed), and that happened fairly quickly w/the cymed -- no leaks but I had to change it the next day and my skin was irritated.

My sense is that the cymed works better for colostomies than ileos, but I hope it works for you.

Pro~ I actually did burp my adhesive 2 piece last night. I just peeled away the top part enough to break the seal, squeezed a bit to get the air out and stuck it back together. So far the bag has stayed stuck just as well as before I burped it. Sometimes I will also let air out of the bottom....like when I'm wearing a one piece...but you have to be VERY careful to not make a mess when doing that. Also, I do remove the bag and wipe off any output that has built up around my stoma about once a day. Yes, you do risk getting a bit messy, but it feels good to get things somewhat "clean"

So far I am liking the Cymed adhesive 2 piece better than the Coloplast. Tonight I will do the true test....take the bag off completely, clean around the stoma and then stick it back on. With the Coloplast it would never seal back up tightly enough after doing that, even though they claimed it would. I really hope it works with this system! Cymed also has great customer service!!
