I originally got diagnosed with UP, but it's since progressed to left sided colitis. The past few years, I've had unexplainable 'dull' aching on the right side of my abdomen (if i look down, it's to the right). This was always bizarre to me since my UC doesn't go this far.
I had ultrasounds done, colonoscopies, etc. and there's never any inflammation there. I figure this will go away once I have surgery, but it's still weird. While dealing with my current flare, even though the colonoscopy showed only left sided UC, the cramping and pain extend all the way across underneath my belly button. Just unusual since I figured pain would be limited primarily to the areas of inflammation.
I guess I get a bit scared because it makes me wonder if I have Crohn's (thinking that if there's a gap in pain in areas, or if it extends to the right side, yet doesn't show inflammation, maybe it's that). But the tests/biopsies and Prometheus labs results all came back as UC (although I do think in one of my papers it said indeterminate UC).
The only time a gap ever came up with colonoscopies was a couple years back, and my doctor felt that it was because some of the medicine was hitting some parts and not the others (since I was doing both oral and rectal meds). But I haven't had any indication from my doctors over the years that it's Crohns. Maybe I'm just freaking myself out.
