Amen to no drugs! After recovering, even with complications and probable Crohn's, having a stoma seems so much less of a big deal than putting all those poison drugs in my body (now I only take vitamins).
I found that I'd lost all perspective and was just so used to being sick.... After recovering from surgery, I felt better than I remembered feeling, and that went a long way toward acceptance and even gratitude (not for having the disease in the first place, but for being better and for the surgeons and nurses who helped me get there).
Best of luck, and do feel free to ask away.... most of us are pretty clueless when we enter the ostomy world, but a lot of folks want to give back and help others, as others helped us.
