While we were driving down the road my friend got very upset because she had to stop and poop. She was so annoyed because we were gonna have to wait at a gas station for her, so she said she would hold it a bit, she said to me, "you know how it feels when you first have to go then the pain passes" and i said that no i really didn't. And she says, "darn it I'm so jealous! I think about it everytime I have to poop and I'm on the road that you never have to stop and take time to do that." I had to laugh, she was very serious.
I thought y'all might find that funny :D

I dunno, I'd think I'd trade my house and my whole wealth for having no disease.

If she's jealous about your situation...oh man......I dunno what to say, I think I better say nothing really lol

i'd say she's totally right. our way has much more advantages. the other way is old fashion :p

Somedude- you are right, any of us would trade a lot for no disease at all- to be a normie with no missing parts, no drugs, no fears of flares etc etc.... But that said, I can vouch that summerstorm is still spot on that as a <<<purely independent of all other factors comparison>>>, never havingto have any urgency or need to hold it rocks *even* compared to a normie.

     To be completely honest....if it was just an occasional stop to poop and not the bloody diarrhea that I suffered with before my operation...no I would NOT be jealous.  I think we all would rather keep a healthy colon/rectum, even if it meant stopping to poop once in awhile.  However, the disease became intolerable for most, if not all, of us in this forum and the decision we made in having our colons removed benefitted us and gave us a better quality of life.

I'm always amazed at how people think I can control the output from my stoma, the way they do from their anus! I had to give my uncle a quick biology lesson the other day, as he was confused as to why I had to time my bag changes and plan ahead.

We went out to eat with friends last night.  After dinner we talked awhile in the parking lot.  As we walked to the car I said to my husband we better go right home (we were going to stop at the market) as I knew I needed to get to the bathroom and preferred to use our own since we were only about 5 minutes away. 

The constant urgency that he suffered with for so long so often that I only experience every once in awhile.... I can't imagine suffering like that day in and day out as my stomach was cramping and needed the bathroom NOW!  If we were far from home I would have had to go back into the restaurant or if we were in the car stopped somewhere/anywhere. 

Not fun to live that way as so many of you have for so many years.  Yeah it is an adjustment but for those who have adjusted and have no complications, it sure has made life a lot easier, more predictable and definitely more manageable.  I can only hope that each of you who need the surgery find that to be the case ultimately.
