Thanks, guys, for your input. I've taken your advice and defenitely stopped drinking my coffee, although I only drank no more than one cup a day (I miss it!!). I also started eating a bit more carbs like bread and rice. I also stopped eating salads (I basically had raw vetetables almost with every meal.) and it's helped so much. I still seem to go back and forth from watery stool (where just water comes out) and hardened stool (not solid form but still watery but a bit more on the formed side). I figured that maybe, as you say, I was drinking too much plain water, so I started limiting that. The electrolyte drinks are so gross, but I'm considering sipping on that as you suggested. In place of salads, I started eating steamed vegetables and drinking vegetable juice. Does vegetable juice work for you guys or does it irritate your system? I'm wondering if you can actually get all the minierals from the juice as you would from eating the veggies.
So far, I've made these changes, but I still have urgency, although it's not as bad as when I had UC when I absolutely could not hold it. I can hold it now but sometimes, I keep going. For example, after I flish the toilet, I'll want to go again. That sorta of thing. My next appt with the surgeon is on August 5, so hopefully I can hold off till then. Knock on wood. I'm worried that I may have pouchitis. How would I know? Would one get watery stool constantly?
