I'm just wondering for those of you who have had the surgery in 3 parts, how long between surgery #2 to construct the jpouch and surgery #3 for take down?

I haven't had step 3 yet, but my surgeon told me 3 months at least. With my work schedule, I think I'll be 4 months out.

Exactly 8 weeks.

Every surgeon has his or her own schedule. I think the average is 3 months.

Thanks for the responses! I was just curios because initially I thought my doctor had said 6-8 weeks for take down. I went yesterday for a checkup and to get my staples out and he said he usually likes to wait 12 weeks for takedown, but because my skin is doing so bad with the this stupid loop he will try to do it at 10 weeks if my pouchogram looks good.
I was very happy with my checkup though, he said I looked great and seemed like I was more like 6 weeks pot op not 3!

Hello Everyone!
I just joined this group tonight and was scrolling down the list of topics saw this and decided to introduce myself. I am #48 in the original/experimental group of 50 people who received a J-Pouch!! My surgeries were done at Methodist Hospital in Houston Texas 24 years ago!

I was ill with colon trouble beginning in my childhood, diagnosed with UC in my early teens and struggled with the horror of it all until I had and adjusted to the J-Pouch. This surgery is what saved my life and allowed me to raise my children. I am grateful to Dr. Ernest Max for accepting me into that program every day of my life.
