I'm not having such a good time with the whole granuloma thing. After my long day getting the two infected sutures removed and the larger granuloma burnt with silver nitrate - the big one is growing, growing & didn't care that it got burnt. The other one has been shrinking & I now have a new third one. As you can imagine this is causing trouble with a good wafer seal.
My last change also revealed that my skin the entire shape of the wafer adhesive has begun to show signs of allergic reaction. I have a rash with open weeping bumps. ON a good note - the underside of my stoma skin is looking amazing for about 1/2" away from stoma & 1/2 the way around.
I just don't know what to do now. I'm not sure what to blame for the reaction - with trying to accommodate the granuloma, I've tried a new combo each change for about 2 weeks now. The change that really set my skin off involved a new style of wafer (still Hollister 2 piece) - the type with thick adhesive the entire square rather than the pull off paper pieces.
This last change I used the regular Hollister again, with an Eakin ring & used stoma powder over all the weeping areas instead of the tincture to stop the weeping. It's been 24 hours and I have the burning, the wafer is definitely compromised as my output seems to melt the turtle neck I create with the ring.
My next thought is to try the cavillon wipes.....
Any input?
Should I buy silver nitrate sticks on Amazon & start burning this granuloma at home? It currently is about 1/2" tall and 1/2" wide.
Thanks so much for listening. I did send pics to my surgeon, but no info about the new rash....
