What I really miss the most is salads, does any one have any takes on eating salads?

I eat a good size salad almost every day and have not had any trouble. They include things like spinach, mixed greens, carrots, cucumber, squash/zucchini, fruit slices, tomato, avocado, sunflower seeds...typical salad stuff. I usually peel most of the skin from the cucumber and squash, just to be safe...and often use 'seedless' cucumbers. I also try to eat it with something that is a bit easier to digest, like a sandwhich, or at least some bread, crackers, pretzels, hard boiled egg, etc... Best thing to do is eat a small amount and see if you tolerate it well. Good luck!!

I eat salad a lot also. I do take the seeds out of the cucumber and don't eat the carrots. But have not had any problems with anything else. Like all foods try just a little and see how it works. Don't forget to chew like there is no tomorrow.

I eat salads all the time with tons of different kinds of veggies in them. I don't eat mushrooms though. Just start slowly, chew a lot. And add more vegetables each time you try a salad.

I eat salads too, I love Zaxbys salads. I only eat lettuce, cheese and croutons because that's all like, lol. I used to eat carrots with dressing but I had to stop eating those because of my teeth, not because of my ileo.
When i first started eating salads I would eat the lettuce that is already shredded, that way even if I didn't chew enough it was already cut up some.
I agree with the others that you need to eat something along with it, some bread or something. And drink lots of water. this is a bit gross, but I will tell you so you will be prepared. Most of the stuff in salads comes out like it went in, so don't be surprised or worried if you see the food in the toilet.

Once I passed the 6 week mark, I slowly added salad - started with lettuce on a burger, then tried a small side salad, then went hog wild and ate a meal sized salad - didn't have any issues, but just know that you will see full pieces of lettuce come out of your ileo, which I found a bit weird :)

Oh I love salad!!! It actually took me almost a year before I trusted myself to eat one even though my surgeon told me after my operation I could eat ANYTHING!!!
. The key thing is to CHEW....extremely well.

I eat a salad almost everyday. I tend to keep it a small one and drink lots of water. I have permanent ileo.
