Thank you prednisone ... I have osteoporosis at age 41. Lovely. St least going back to work has been great :)
Sorry to hear about
your diagnosis. I was dx'd with osteoporosis at 37. The results of the DEXA scan I had at that time rated my bone age as that of a postmenopausal 64 yr. old woman
.
15 years later, I have had no additional bone loss. I've had 3 separate rib fractures when I had pneumonia but no other broken bones. I am slowly catching up (in real age) to my bone age. I took calcium supplements, vit D and bisphosphonates (actonel, didronel, etc.) after my diagnosis and ultimately, at age 51, completed a 5 year Boniva infusion plan after a total hysterectomy and resulting menopause. My rheumatologist was in charge of the treatment plan and continues to do regular testing.
Devise a treatment plan now with your dr., it's important to maintain the bone mass you still have. Hang in there - and best of luck to you
.
