     I did a big no no yesterday and I should know better.  I ate ice cream with walnuts.  I thought I chewed each one into oblivion, but, apparently one escaped and is lodged in my stoma.  I do have output, not as much though.  Everytime I do have output, it is painful.  The stoma is very tender to the touch.  Any suggestions?  I drank a lot of cranberry juice today and went for a long walk.  Thanks a bunch!!!

triple shot of metamucil, chase it with lots and lots of water

swallowing some mineral oil may help

soak in a hot bath - massage abdomen especially around stoma - different body positions (knees to chest etc) may put pressure in other internal areas and help move it along

anything that you have found really makes your stoma active is probably something to try - drinking coffee perhaps? walking, swimming or other exercise maybe? chewing gum possibly?

of course if the blockage continues then seek medical care

I have heard of at least one person that has infused water into the stoma to clear a blockage but it is not something I would recommend to others.

Hot shower (not TOO hot) can help a lot! Check the wafer opening and make sure it isn't too snug around your stoma, it is probably a bit swollen from the blockage and the wafer might be making things worse. A lot of the time just removing your appliance and hopping in the shower for a few minutes will help it pop right out. Lying down in different positions (especially on my side) always helped me, plus lots of juice, gentle massage... and try to relax.

Grape juice helps me a lot (it's like liquid plumber for my stoma...).... plus a lot of moving around, hot tea, shower (without bag) or bath (with bag), massage, knee to chest yoga poses...

I wouldn't try the metamucil, though.... that bulks up stool.... opposite of what you want.

     Super advice....thank you all! yeah    I didn't have grape juice, but I did drink a lot of cranberry juice, tea, walked a lot and took a hot bath.  Either one of them or a combo worked.  It doesn't hurt with the output and only a tad sore. Thanks everyone!!! smilewinkgrin

...and holds lotsa lotsa water that creates a slippery slimy messy jelly blob that will move practically anything thru the pipes...and it looks cool having a big gooey blob of orangy brown glop plop out of the bag into the toilet too...

leave it in the toilet and wait for the next person to use the bathroom and run out screaming "help me its THE BLOB"

Glad it cleared, Christine. I keep grape juice popsicles in the freezer so there's always something in the house (like stoma aspirin or something...)

MeanDean, never thought of it that way; cool that it can work..... still would be scary to try, as my blockages have felt like thick messes, worried it'd just make more.....but I'm glad you find something fun about a blockage :-)
