So I guess Coloplast came out with a slightly new/reformulated product under their Brava line. The are gel-like half-circles that you secure the edge of your ostomy flange.

The other night, I felt like my stoma might have been starting to leak but I wasn't certain. I had some slight tickling, but no visible signs of leakage. I had just gotten back from the ER at 5:30 am (I thought I might have another PE, but everything came back ok!) and I didn't want to deal with it. So I took two of these strips and stuck them on the side I was worried about. They were slightly overlapped.

Of course when I woke up the next day I did indeed have a leak. And it stayed contained!! It would have been bad. It took the second strip to stop it but it did stop it.

I second this notion!! I keep a box of the Brava strips on hand to use if I'm going to be swimming, more active that usual, or feel like my wafer just needs a little extra support until I can get around to changing it. They always do great!! I actually love all of the Brava products, I use the rings and paste strips too, and have had good experiences with all of them. If it weren't for the goofy lock/click closure system on their wafers/bags, I would probably use them too.

I love the Brava adhesive remover wipes too! Sooo much larger than the other brands. Unfortunately my supplier doesn't carry them.

I haven't tried a bag before.

I use these too they are brilliant!I feel really confident when wearing these especially when I went swmming in the summer they were still sercure until I changed later that evening x

I did get samples of those a while back. If you like them you should get samples of sure seals (www.alpglobal.com) and compare. I've used sure seals for many years (I swim, run and kayak)and won't go a day without them. They are also about half the price of the Brava strips yeah

I did not have a positive experience with brava strips. I tried them for a month and every time I would take a shower the strip would peel off and take the wafer with it. I now stick to sure seals.

are strips used to keep flang on like adapt paste?

I use the Coloplast Brava elastic barrier strips and they work really well. I used to use a belt for extra security but do not anymore. They do contain minor leaks which since using the strips are both rare and minor and related to overexpansion due to gas (at night). The Sure Seal looks really good but it seems would only work with a two piece system? I use a one piece. Have had no problems in the shower or swimming. My insurance covers the cost.

The strips are circular like clear tape that go around your flange. I place them so that half the tape is on the barrier and half the tape is on the skin.

I do own some Sure-seals! I haven't tried them yet as they didn't look like they were big enough for my flange? I honestly didn't open them yet. I had assumed that they were a solid donut.

I do not have the water problem since I can't shower! ;)

UjohnjC~ If you are asking about the paste strips that I mentioned, yes, they are used like paste. You can break off as much as you need, roll it into a thin "snake" and put it close around your stoma before placing your wafer. I have also used them after I put my wafer on to fill in any small gaps. They are much easier to work with than the paste and seem to hold up better.

Those are the ones that I have used, but I'm sure other companies make them as well.

thanks will have to try them paste burns when 1st applied sometimes tried hollister adapt rings also and my skin did not agree with them.I am excited to try them now!
