Well I did it. I had the BCIR done. I have been here for for 11 days and I have 12 more to go. I feel great though. I am so glad to have that nasty disease out of me. I didn't think it was going to be this easy. I know that the BCIR was the right path for me to take. No more freaquent bathroom breaks. I love it. I just can praise it enough. I was afraid at first but not any more. I am ready to go have a big juicy burger. LOL. But they say not yet. I will have 3 more days of soft low residue food.

Oh man I cannot wait though. MMMMMMMM good. The staff here is wonderful, best hospital stay every. Well all I need to go get hooked back to suction. Talk to you soon. I like they have a computer her for us.

Glad to hear you are doin so well! I never thought I would say this but I think I am gonna keep my colostomy. At this point I don't want a reversal. It is soooo nice not to have to worry about where the nearest bathroom is.

I just finished nurses aide training. Something I couldn't have done without the colostomy.

Hi Cleo,

I just wanted to let you know I agree with not being reconnected ever again. That is why I had the BCIR done. I can drain when I want. And if I cannot get to it it will not leak. This to me was the best option. I knew that the j-pouch was not for me. And if anyone else may be interested in checking this surgery out you can find all the info and more at www.bcirostomy.com

Janene, I am sooo glad your doing so good !!! I would like to have the Bcir surgery done but I was told that they wont do it on Crohns patients.  Good luck and hopefully the next 12 days will go fast !!!

Cindy,  I am soooo glad that you are feel so much better about your ostomy.  I know you have had a hard time with it but it seems like things are much better for ya.  Congrats on the nurses aide training. I was a CNA for a long time but I could work anymore because of the CD. I think it is a tough job but a rewarding too !!!   I hope you stay on the up side of things !!!!  When you first asked the question   " was it the best thing you ever did?"   and most of us said yes, I knew you probably thought we were crazy but now You know were not all too crazy !!!
