Anybody tried the new ostomy product from Coloplast; the Sensura Mio?

Just got a few samples of them and wanted to hear some feedback. I'm thinking about using these over the regular Sensura pouches.

Hi Matt

I haven't tried them yet as I can't get my hands on a sample until May but from what I've heard from WOCN they are fantastic. I use the regular SenSura line and love it, and I'm going to give the Mio line a chance as well.

I keep checking the mailbox to see if they get delivered early but nothing yet!

Do you use the one piece or two piece system?

I have only been using the one piece, but want to try out the two piece sensura set up as well.

I'm on the list for a Mio sample too, can't wait! Although those sticker bags sort of sketch me out... I'm currently using Convatec Natura 2 piece, & so far it's working fine. I have some samples of the Coloplast sticker 2 piece set-ups, I don't know what they're called... the wafer has a blue line & you align the bag with the line, & just stick it on. Do you all find this type of fastening system as secure as the snap-on kind? I find the snap-on kinds do give sort of a high profile. My WOCN raved about the Mio too, she recently went to a dinner sponsored by Coloplast, all about the Mio.

Mine haven't arrived yet either......I am anxiously awaiting them as well! Pouches, Canada May be a little later in the delivery according to where I buy my supplies! Hopefully we don't have to wait too long!

Matt, you should try them out and let us know how they are!!!!

@ Matt - I use the two piece system and have had zero troubles with it

@ Eva Lou - I have tried the two piece flex (that's the adhesive coupling system) and really loved how low profile it is. It was super strong and I had no issues with it. I'm back to using the two piece click system because I have a ton of them and want to use up my supply!

@ Larasmom - Yes I went to the Coloplast Canada website, apparently the Mio 2 piece flex will be available in May (signed up for the freebies) and the Mio 2 piece click a few months after that. I am still going to try the Mio flex system though, it really does look great and I'm interested in the new filters on the bags, they look great!

I have been using the Mio one piece drainable almost exclusively since I had my ileostomy surgery on April 2. They gave me samples in the hospital and Edge Park has shipped me them, even though they're not supposed to be available until May 1. I love the pouch itself. It's quiet, comfortable, does not blow up with gas, easy to empty and close, and I like the gray color. It is way better than the Hollister pouch I am wearing right now. The adhesive on the back is very strong, and frankly it is very painful when I remove it, though I am pretty hairy.

However, the last two times I have worn the Mio I have gotten leaks under the flange from around the stoma, which has caused burning and red skin. So I have lost confidence in the Mio for now and am trying some others. I just got off the phone with Coloplast and the rep suggested I try a convex Mio, which he is sending me. My stoma shouldn't require a convex wafer but I will give it a try. I really want to like the Mio because, as I said, the pouch itself is the best I've used so far. In the short time since my surgery I've had a Convatec in the hospital, I'm wearing a Hollister now, and I've also used the Coloplast Sensura. I'll post again once I receive the convex Mio.

For those interested, I did a full review on the new Mio's on my website. I've been wearing them about a month and they really helped my skin to heal. The filter didn't work for me, but I have an ileostomy and I don't expect miracles from filters. The wafer is really comfortable and the pouch has some really great features!

I dislike one-piece appliances, so I can't wait to get my hands on the two-piece Mio's (june/july according to Coloplast).

A Coloplast rep came to my last local ostomy association meeting and brought a sample of the two-piece Mio. It looks really cool. It has a similar "Clik" system as the Sensura or Assura two-piece though the mechanism looks more low-profile and flexible. The wafer looks great too. Past Coloplast products never agreed with my skin because the wafer was so big and rigid, but the Mio wafer looks much more stretchy and flexible. The gray fabric is nice too and looks like it wouldn't pill like some of the tan fabrics on other pouches. I love my current Convatec system, but I am looking forward to giving the Mio a try when the sample comes.
