Emergency Ileostomy due to C Difficile

Hi Everyone,

I am new to healingwell. Has anyone experienced C. difficile and emergency surgery (Ileostomy) what an awful experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone, however, 12 weeks out I am doing very well, if you have any thoughts to share I would appreciate it, thank you :-)

Wow so sorry for what you've been through. My late mother in law had cancer and while in the hospital she got a c diff infection. It was such a horrible case that the only thing that could be done was to remove her colon. However, since she was also dying of cancer and so weak we knew she wouldn't be able to survive the surgery. So it was never done and hospice came in for her. Up until that happened I had no idea how devastating that c diff infection can be.

Hi what a dreadful time you had . Glad to hear your doing well with the Ileo though considering you probably didn't have time to prepare for it. I haven't had C diff but there are a few people on here who have had it who can relate with you. I just wanted to say hi and welcome aboard! ;0)

Thank you for your kind words, yes I'm doing well, and no warning with my situation whatsoever. Also, thank you for your stories, I feel for you as well as it has not been easy for you either. Perhaps I will hear from others at healing well, thanks again :)

My ileo was also the result of emergency surgery because of infection. It is a quite different experience from most here who wrestle with when and if to do the surgery and then have health improvement after. One does become accustomed to it though. Welcome aboard!
