I have been wanting to update but haven't been doing well. I was home for a day after my reversal and ended up back at Cleveland clinic for over a month. I had another surgery for a blockage. My bowels were so swollen it took over two weeks for them to wake up. I was depedent on tpn during this time.

I came home again and struggled with eating and nausea. I was offered to come home on tpn and made the wrong choice not to. Ended up back in hospital for dehydration. While in the hospital I started having severe cramping and lost complete control over my bowels. Pouchitis. I am still in here on antibiotics. Inflammation is improving and I've decided to go home on tpn until I am able to eat enough and to avoid coming back to the hospital. That is the reader's digest version of my past couple months. I will update more when I feel up to it. This reversal has been the worst step for me which I didn't think was possible considering all my past complications.

I have been home on tpn almost a month now. I am eating much better so I will be discontinuing the tpn when I go see my doctor the first week of June. As far as my j pouch function goes, I have the opposite problem than most people. Most of the time my output is so thick it is hard to get out. Then some days it is watery. I'm still trying to figure things out. I have been experimenting with fiber supplements and different juices.

I find the gas part to be most frustrating. I have to often put myself in weird positions to fart lol. I call it my bathroom aerobics. It's just frustrating when I'm sitting in a car or watching a movie and the gas will build up and build up because it can't come out unless I am positioned a certain way. My pouch has only been functioning for about a month so I know my body is still adjusting. Despite having weak sphincter muscles, I've had no leaks. I sleep through the night most of the time. I am hoping with all the bad luck I've had that I will finally be blessed with a good functioning pouch. I am happy with it as long as the pouchitis stays away! That was awful.

I hope to return to work mid June. I read the forum almost daily. I think I need to start responding to people's posts more. I had my stoma for over two years. I have lots of advice e to give. Thanks for thinking about me.

Oh and for butt burn I like to use Tucks pads. They provide instant relief and aren't messy like the creams.

I think once you are off the TPN you should see more consistency. That stuff, while it works wonders, has got to do weird things to your system. I was so happy to get off of it.

so it's pouchitis that's causing your problems? Currently, I mean... I'm glad to hear you're hanging in there- let us know how things go, you've been thru a lot.

Sara, I haven't been on the list much the last few months. So sorry to hear of your ordeal. Glad you're doing better than you were, hope things continue to improve.
