Don't lose hope! I had the dreaded ileus with each of my surgeries as well, and it was REALLY bad with my last surgery. I told my surgeon that I think having my jpouch removed for perm ileo was a huge mistake (this was in between periods of vomiting litres of bile). She took my head in her hands, looked at me and said "This is what recovery is all about, this will pass". I didn't believe her, and there were days that I truly thought I was dying.
Then, guess what? It did pass. And I could start to see the dim light at the end of the tunnel.
Regarding your fiance - he needs to realise how lucky you are to have your mom and grandma around to help out. This living situation, just like your ileus, is temporary. Better or worse, sickness and in health, your relationship will go through a test during your recovery.
I'll keep you in my thoughts and send positive vibes your way.
Huge hugs to you.
