New Coloplast bags

     I received two sample bags from Coloplast in the mail last week.  One is the Coloplast Mio?  I have too much going on this weekend, so didn't really pay much attention to the bags.  I believe it says it has a "wrap around" filter?  Anyhoo....anybody else use these new bags from Coloplast and if so, how you like them?

I've been using the Mio and I really like it. My stoma nurse in the hospital was a big cheerleader for these bags. Apparently they did a lot of research in making these bags. I love that they have a little peek-a-boo window so I can look at my stoma.

These Mio are closed bags, yes ? Well, as far as I can tell from the coloplast sute anyway. I'm new to this but why would you choose a closed bag over a drainable one ? My stoma nurse has only spoken to me about drainable ones.

I started on coloplast bags in hospital, but had leaks as soon as
I left. On the suggestion of my stoma nurse I'm now on Salts one-piece convex bags and stomahesive paste. This combo seens to work for me

The Mio bags that I wear are two piece drainable. :-)

Just been through the UK coloplast site again and I see nothing other than a one-piece closed bag called "mio"

I just got mine on Friday. Trying one tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing if it's different from the Sensura.

I changed to the Mio two piece this morning and I can hardly feel it there. I have been to the bathroom three times to make sure it's still on!!! So far very comfy. The click system seems to be stronger than the Sensura.

I could do without the peek hole and clear end to the pouch....I am not one that likes to see what's going on. But so far so good. If I get a week out of it like I do my Sensura, then I will definitely be switching.

Quick update, just spent three hours in the pool, got out, the pouch was dry almost immediately and the wafer is still firmly in place.

So far so good.

that's good to know, I just received a sample yesterday- but my Mio is a one-piece puch, drainable. I've only used 2 piece systems... I've been leery of trying them, somany people have posed about leaks. I may give it a go this wknd, but would prefer a 2 piece- I find those easier to ensure a good seal around the stoma. Who knows though, maybe I'd prefer a 1 piece.

I use the two piece....call and request a sample! So far, no leaks for me. Of course that means I'll have one tonight, right?? Lol.

CarenZ.....that's just the way it goes isn't it!!! So far I am thrilled. The pouch seems to dry much quicker. I am happy so far....only day two tho!

I just did my first change with the new SenSura Mio, and so far I love it! I can't even feel it, and while I could do without the peekaboo window (and when I look at suppliers online they do make the Mio without the window!) I do like that I can tuck the bag up into the window as there is a little piece of velcro there, and it makes it nice and small for showering, intimacy, etc.

I usually wear a light convex SenSura wafer, does anyone know when/if this option will be available? Also - I still used an Eakin ring, has anyone had any issues with an Eakin/other barrier ring and the new Mio?

Well, I was so excited and had my bubble burst this morning. I woke up with my skin feeling very sore and irritated. Took off my flange to find my skin totally inflamed from the adhesive (even thru the friars). No leaks but severe redness like I hadn't had before. So I gently cleaned up and went back to my Sensura. Will change in a day or two to make sure the irritation is gone.

I am so disappointed. I thought for sure that was going to be my new go to.

... and reviews like these are why I haven't yet pursued my Mio 2-piece sample! Sure, it sounds promising... but hey, Hollister works fine for me, why switch things up? Maybe I'll stick the 1-piece sample in one of my emergency supply kits, use it eventually. Hope your skin heals up ASAP, Larasmom- same thing happened to me last week with a Convatec- had to do an emergency change at work, used Convatec (which they used in the hospital), not 1 hour later my skin ITCHED like mad! Stuck it out for a day or so, & when I couldn't take the itching, pulled the whole thing off. Huge welts all over my skin. Which healed up like the minute I put my Hollister back on! Weird though, because I'd used Convatec the first month or so post-surgery with no skin problems.

     Hmmm...lots of pros and cons here.  I was going to try it and wear it to my 50 yr high school reunion on Friday night....but...I better wait till Saturday...don't want to gross any of my old high school friends out... smhair

Well it's been a few days now with the new Mio and so far so good. I did call Coloplast and had the rep answer a few questions for me.

Yes, they are going to be releasing a convexity line, so that may help people who are experiencing leaks (here in Canada we can only get a flat wafer so far).

I do get more pancaking going on, and the rep said there are quite a few complaints about that, so they are looking at the plastic they are using - it seems that not only did they change the colour and design of the bag, they also changed the plastic.

I do love how water repellant the bag is, and the wafer itself is STUCK on me, no peeling or anything and I've been to the gym numerous times and have long hot showers.

I did also ask the rep that as the old belts aren't compatible with this new design, if she could send me a new belt for free - and she is, as well as many more samples as I told her I wasn't willing to purchase until I've tried the system for a few more weeks and have consistent success with it.

So, my experience has been good so far but I realize there are a few issues that need to be worked out.

Asked my stoma nurse about Mio a few months ago. She said only the closed bags were available in the UK at the moment. It's a case of having to wait for the drainable version to arrive on our shores.

The closed bags for for people with colostomies who only go 1-2x a day and pass a much more solid stool than ileostomates do. They're not suitable for people with ileostomies who need to empty their bag several times a day.
