I think the problem may be that I have a convex flange.. Not sure why? when the swelling went down the ostomy nurse told me to use a convex pouch. not sure why cuz my ileostomy protrudes out with no issues. Summer is coming and if i wear tshirts you can totally see my pouch underneath. should i go back to a flat instead of the convex? or any other suggestions?

I'm not sure if you are a male or female. I just wear 2 pair of panties to flatten it,and I tape the top of the bag to my stomach. That keeps it from flopping over.

I have worn both regular and convex wafers, and the convex are no more noticeable than the regular ones. I don't feel like my pouch is very noticeable ever, but I really don't care if it is either way. If I do want to make sure it is more snug against my body, I either wear high waisted undies over it or a tight tank top under whatever else I'm wearing.

Maybe it's more complicated that I think, but can't you go see your nurse in one of your t-shirts and say: Look, this convex bag, shows through. Can you give me an alternative or non convex bag that doesn't show through.

I could be wrong but my guess is that it's the bag that is showing through, not the wafer itself, right?
Generally I would do what's stated above, always wear some kind of under layer that covers the bag, so that it won't show through outer clothing. You can either cover it from "below" with underwear or from "above" with an undershirt. Option number three is to wear an ostomy wrap which is basically like a tube of stretchy fabric.

1-piece bags tend to lie flatter than 2-pieces, so if you are not already wearing a 1-piece you could try one. Also, if you are wearing a medium-size bag consider trying a larger one. That sounds paradoxical, but smaller pouches get filled with air and output more quickly, which in turn makes the bag bulge more.
And, finally, switch to a non-convex bag.
Unless you like to wear skin-tight t-shirts, hopefully this will resolve the problem. If it doesn't, then google ostomy wraps. There are specially designed underwear and wraps that you can buy.

Yea, mine shows through my t shirt as well and I use a flat Hollister 2 piece. Doesn't bother me so much as it's not really that noticable unless you are looking for it. Try

they have cool stuff to help that. -Mike

Hollister with convexity has a harder 'ring' for it's convexity and does show through clothes:-(
You may want to try samples from another manufacturer...I think in convexity Convatec has the lowest profile.

Hi I have found a solution that works for great for me. I am a woman just had an ileostomy and I hated that you could see the bag under my clothes. I tend to wear tight fitting clothes. To cover the bag I wear women's boxer shorts with a wide band. This holds most of the bag in place but it leaves the top of the bag flapping around. Very annoying! What I did I cut the elastic band of a pair of men's boxer shorts( these are wider than women's) I wear that just around the the top of the bag. It hides everything perfectly well and no one can see I am wearing a bag. Its easy to take on and off and doesn't restrict the flow of the bag. I hope it helps oh and its much cheaper than the bands they sell on line!

Hi @Rainbow! When did you have your surgery? Just wondering because mine was a little over 5 weeks ago and I'm still uncomfortable having anything constricting over my stoma. I got some great advice about
buying cheap tube tops from Amazon to wear to cover my stoma. You should check that out. Mine still feels a little too constricting so hopefully in a few more weeks I'll put it to good use!

Try coloplast Mio. It's grey which is a neutralizing color. It was specially design not to show under shirts...especially white.
