wafers- with tape border or no tape???

hi everyone! I've been using Hollister flextend wafers for months, they work great, no leaks, last 5+ days, etc. I use the ones with the tape border, like the "windowpane" around that yellowy super sticky stuff, the actual adhesive. But lately my skin has had tiny itchy red bumps around the tape edges- nothing underneath the wafer, just around the tape. So I've been cutting the tape super close to the adhesive part. Then thought "Duh, why not just buy the wafers without tape???". But they seem like they'd come off real easy... Any thoughts, ideas, opinions? What do you all use, tape or no tape? And do you notice any difference in wear time with either one? I may call Hollister & ask for a sample.

I've tried the tape-less hollister bags and they lasted just as long as any others. I actually found them to be very comfortable. I didn't like them for other reasons though...but nothing to do with the wafer. Give them a try!

I use hollister with the tape and dont have any issues. I like the way the tape is an added security to keeping the wafer snug. Occasionally towards the last day or two of my wafer cycle it will itch slightly maybe from sweat but Inhavent had any skin irritation issue. I did used to cut the tape on the side closest to my largest incision right after surgery, until it healed, to make room for the gauze and packing over the incision that had to be changed daily, and there were no issues due to that removed tape.

you can try using something like cavalon to lightly coat your skin under the tape part only, or use liquid bandage, or some such stuff- or try just a dab of cortisone cream on the bumps whiel you are changing your pouch, then wipe off just before you apply the pouch to make sure skin is not greasy from cream- I used to wear pouches without tape, but I've found that for any leaks I might get, the tape is like the last line of defense in holding the poo to am inimum of mess- doesn't completyely stop leaks, but it helps a lot- preventing a bigger mess sometimes- depending on how severe thel eak is- I've had the tape completely contain smaller leaks- so I wouldn't really be without it- plus the tape helps keep the barrier from lifting up if caught on something when moving around- just a it more security in my opinion- so
I put up with the adverse reaction to the tape (my skin gets really raw from tiem to time under the tape- and have to aggressively treat with cortisone )
