Biopsy in Anus

hi i just had a sub total colectomy in august this year,they left my rectum which has flared since op and is still being naughty lol I got a scope done a few weeks ago and the took 6 biopsys which i would describe as a bit uncomfortable, i refused the injection that make you feel a little tipsy !!!.I am now waiting on removing the rectum and sewing me shut !!!. my date is the 20 th nov.So dont worry its over in about 15 mins.

      Embers....I had no idea that my surgeon was going to leave the anus intact.   As a matter of fact, about a month post op, I thought I had a hemorrhoid because I had discomfort inside.  I was under the impression my anus was removed...but I know I had no Barbie butt.  Guess I was just ignorant about the entire operation.  When I first went to my surgeon, I went on my own as my GI doctor refused to send me to a surgeon.  I knew my rectum was diseased, but, my colon wasn't bad at all, just minor diverticulosis.  Anyway, when I saw my surgeon a month post op, he told me then that he left the anus intact as he felt there were more complications with removal of the anus.  My discomfort was caused by a hematoma which developed inside the anus.  He was able to drain it in the office and placed me on antibiotics.  Two weeks later it was all healed.  I've had bleeding, more like spotting, from my vagina ever since my operation...and I was twenty years past menopause.  I was checked extensively by my gyn...three transvaginal ultrasounds over the last three years and everything is fine in that department.  My operation was over four years ago and this is the first time the UC appeared in the anus since my operation.  My surgeon retired last year, so I am seeing a new surgeon.  This new guy said I have an anal fissure and because of the occasional spotting from the vagina, he believes I have a recto vaginal fistula.  He said this is quite common following the type of surgery I had.  He did want the records from my gyn office though...he was quite concerned about it.  Anyway...guess I will find out the scoop on Thursday when go for the biopsies.

     In my surgeon's defense about not removing the anus...I was quite ill at the time of my operation and he thought I wouldn't be able to tolerate the removal of the anus.  However, he never did mention that I might need it removed at a later date.  I have an end ileo...no loop.

     Good luck to you on Wednesday.  I am in no hurry to get the anus removed.  If the surgeon, who I thoroughly trust, believes it should go, then it goes.  I am 68 yrs old...in better health than I was prior to my operation in 2010...but have some bone issues going on.  I have NO rectum.  The rectum and colon went in 2010.  There is no pain or bleeding from the anus, just the occasional spotting from the vagina.  My gyn told me the spotting was coming from the thinning of the wall of my cervix.  Oh well,  they'll get to the bottom of this..no pun intended.
