blood coming out probably between skin and stoma

Hey Kari, don't panic. There's probably nothing wrong except, like you said, you might've made a wrong movement. The stoma is very delicate and can bleed easily. It usually heals quickly also. If you can, have a stoma nurse look at it. If not, just keep an eye on it.

I had my surgery about 3 weeks ago. So far my skin right below the stoma has bled from output being on the skin and using the wrong type of bag. Now that I have used powder and I am not having leaks, the bleeding stopped. When I changed my bag yesterday with my ostomy nurse the stoma was bleeding and I asked about it and she said it was normal. She referred to it like the inside of your nose. She said if it continued I could apply a little pressure but it was nothing to worry about.

My stoma bleeds almost every time I change my bag and it has been over a year since my surgery. I just wet a tissue with cold water and hold it there for a bit and it calms down. It seems that it is easily irritated and as long as it stops bleeding after the bag is in place, I don't think it is anything to worry about.
