Hi all,
Wow, I've been away from this forum for a long time! After my surgery in September I was in and out of hospital for my pancreatitis. It was a rough road. Finally diagnosed with autoimmune pancreatitis and managed to get it under total control with a course of prednisone! Now I'm on no medication at all.
Life was great from December until this past Wednesday! Recently, my stoma has swollen quite a bit. I am also experiencing pain when passing output. An ostomy nurse took a look at it and she doesn't think it's a partial blockage. She is not sure what it could be because my stoma is red, moist and warm. Basically, healthy looking otherwise. Well, if she doesn't know, then I definitely don't. I don't want my stoma to stay swollen for the rest of my life! I made an appointment with my surgeon but the earliest I could get is April 27th!!
So far, I've just been treating it as a partial blockage. Lots of walking, hot liquids, hot baths, laying on my side with my legs tucked into my tummy. Nothing seems to be giving me relief!
Does anyone have some insight to what it could be? I'm pretty scared, to be honest. It doesn't feel comfortable at all. Like a big, hard ball.
