Hi Brewers Beauty
7 weeks is still an extremely new ostomy. Like answers4me said, it will get better as time goes by. It took about 9 months before I felt normal again, and until my ileostomy was functioning "normally."
Ileostomy output is liquidy. The thickest mine ever gets is like peanut butter, but liquidy applesauce is what it's like most of the time.
You can ask your doctor about lomotil, which is prescription and slows down the transit time of the output. There is also cholestyramine for oral suspension, I think it's other name is Questran. It is prescription and it thickens the output. It's a powder that you stir into a glass of water. It works very well for me.
Immodium, which you can buy at the drug store over the counter, is excellent too. Be sure to ask your doctor what would be the best way for you to use it, dosages and all that.
Spaghetti or any other pasta thickens my output like crazy, and quickly, too. Good luck! It will get better with time.
