J-pouch surgeon recommendations

I live in St. Louis MO and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for J-pouch surgeons in MO?   It would be great if anyone had any experience with a doc in the St louis area, but I am open to all suggestions as I will travel.  Thanks!

Sorry I'm in NJ but if you log on to Jpouch.org and post this question you may get some recommendations as there are many members on that site. Good luck!

Ps - my GI doctor recommend the surgeon I used. Can you ask yours? Also, since you're willing to travel, the Cleaveland Clinic is one of the best for the J pouch procedure.

Dr. Strong at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. He is head of the surgical department there and was recently brought onboard from the Cleveland Clinic. Highly recommend.

It would involve travel for you but I vote for Cleveland Clinic. I could not have asked for a better experience. My surgeon is Dr. Huang. She is a surgeon that also does colorectal research. I didn't pick her she took my case after GI recommended the colorectal surgery department see me. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to do my surgeries. When I go to the office, I never wait long and they treat you like you are the only patient they have to see that day. At the hospital they have an inpatient floor that specializes in colorectal surgery patients and every nurse and aide was so nice and caring. They've already seen it all, they make you feel so at ease. A lot of them remember you from your previous stays. I really appreciated that. Its 3 1/2 hours from my home in Southwest Ohio to Cleveland but worth every minute and mile. It was tough on my family, but we would do it again because I am so much better today.

nix1262 - not sure if you are still on here or still researching surgeons in STL or other hospitals. I am also in this area and researching surgeons for possible Jpouch. My GI is at Barnes Jewish and she recommened a surgeon there that does all of her patients Jpouch surgeries, his name is Sekhar Dharmarajan, MD.

I have only met with him once. My main concern with him was he does 90% 3 step and I was told I was a good candidate for 2 step. When I asked about 2 step I didn't really care for his answer and if I do try to have 2 step I really want a surgeon who does mostly 2 step. Looking for a 2nd opion once I meet with my GI again in August.
