My stoma is swollen since I went back to work. I work in the heat as a bus driver on a bus that is not air conditioned. It is HOT. I am staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, Gatorade, coconut water, etc.
I feel fine other than a little discomfort here and there when I wear the nu hope belt with the hole which seems to make the stoma even more swollen.
Today I wore a belt with no hole, which my doctor recommends over the belts with holes anyway. I felt more comfortable, but the stoma is still swollen.
He's not prolapsed out, not longer, but rather just fatter around. I normally cut a 25mm hole and he's roughly 28mm-30mm around.
Has anyone ever heard of the stoma swelling during the summer?
Could something be wrong with me? I had surgery in May to repair a very problematic parastomal hernia. I'm feeling much better now without all of the blockages and pain.
